Spring 2027 Work-Study & Internship Opportunities

Story House Montana is seeking five University of Montana students in the College of Arts and Media (CAM) program for hands-on internships at our growing film and creative production campus in Missoula.

Students will gain real-world experience working alongside industry professionals as we prepare for upcoming film productions.

Available Positions

• Production, Set Build & Prop House (2): Assist with sets, props, costumes, and studio preparation.
• Social Media & Studio Office (2): Create content, support marketing, events, and daily operations.
• Equine Film Production & Horse Training (1): Assist with horse care, training, and film production preparation.

Program Details: must be in the 

• When: Spring Semester 2027
• Hours: Up to 19 hours/week for 15 weeks starting Jan. 15-May 3rd, 2027
• Pay: $15/hour for approved work-study positions
• Academic Credit: May be available through UM CAM program
• Alternative: Students without work-study eligibility may be considered for an academic-credit internship with a potential stipend, subject to funding and approval.

Course Description: Media Training Center, with support from Rocky Mountain Rigging, is excited to announce an Introduction to Stagehands in-person course.  Montana needs over 200 trained stagehands this year to support our growing music scene. This course equips learners with the foundational skills and practical knowledge needed to thrive as a stagehand.  Normally, $300 but $100 until Nov. 1

Get trained, get in the database, and get employed.

 The courses offered over the weekend are: 

1. A focused Introduction to Stagehand course with an emphasis on training will focus on everything from safety protocols and crew communication to technical equipment handling and stage setup.
2. This course is an online, self-paced course that takes on average 5 hours to complete
3. Cost: $150 (normally $300) 

Upon completion, students earn a digital badge and are granted access to an exclusive online database of Montana stagehands, simplifying the path to employment.

The courses offers

1. A focused Introduction to Production course with an emphasis on training to become a Production Assistant. This PA course will focus on film lingo, equipment names, paperwork, and walkie-talkie protocol. 

Course Description:

Media Training Center is excited to announce our online Rapid Training Courses in the Film and Media Trades that will enable Montanans to quickly gain the skills needed to join the state’s fast-growing Film and Media industry.

These Film and Media Rapid Training Courses are offered online for self-paced learners. It takes an average of 10-15 hours with 10 modules. 

The courses offered over the weekend are:

1. A focused Introduction to Production course with an emphasis on training to become a Production Assistant. This PA course will focus on film lingo, equipment names, paperwork, and walkie-talkie protocol. 
2. Cost $150
3. Upon completion, receive a virtual badge and go into our database to share with hiring film/media producers.
