The Story House Film Institute in Missoula, the nonprofit educational arm of Story House, Inc., is proud to offer a unique scholarship opportunity awarding 6 academic credits through a hands-on paid internship on the feature film St. George

A stipend at the end of the project will be $1250 for students who complete all the required hours and training.

This immersive experience places students, alumni, and returning professionals directly on a working film set—equipping them with real-world skills, industry connections, and college credit toward their academic and career goals.

🎓 Start with Industry-Recognized Training

Before stepping on set, all interns will complete a required 10-hour Production Assistant (PA) Training Course through the Media Training Center at Missoula College.

This course provides essential skills and safety knowledge for working on a film set, covering:

  •  Set etiquette and professional protocols  
  •  Walkie talkie communication  
  •  Department roles and terminology  
  •  On-set safety procedures  
  •  Script breakdowns and call sheets  
  •  Resume building and job-readiness tools  

Upon completion, participants are certified as Production Assistants—prepared to contribute meaningfully on set and step confidently into their internship roles.

📚 About the Program

This internship is offered through the Institute’s flagship training programs:

  •  Educational Training Program (ETP)
     
  •  Career Pathways Training Program (CPTP)
     

In partnership with the University of Montana, Missoula College, and Media Training Center, these programs combine classroom learning with real-world experience to prepare participants for in-demand roles in:

  •  Cinematography & Direction
     
  •  Lighting & Set Design
     
  •  Production Management
     
  •  Sound & Post-Production
     
  •  Media Manufacturing & Technical Trades
     

📘 Course Overview:

This 6-credit immersive course is designed to equip students with essential skills for working on professional film sets through online coursework and a 10-week internship on the feature film St. George. The program blends academic training with hands-on experience to prepare participants for careers in the film industry. 

📅 Schedule Overview:

  • August – September 
    • PA Certification Course
          Online | Self-paced | 10–12 hours
      Fee: $150 (Book & Access Fee)
          Instructor: Lynn-Wood Fields
      (Includes digital badge and certificate upon completion)

      
     

  • End of September-End of October 
    • Internship Placement: St. George Film Set (Missoula, MT)
          8 hours/day for 40 hours/week on-set shadowing experience over 4 weeks
          Students select and are assigned days based on production needs.

🧠 Learning Outcomes:

Students will:
